Tiling complete - Painting commenced

Received the following from the builder today

Unfortunately I don't have any images as yet. Cant wait to get in and see how they look!

Also received a call from the site supervisor to confirm the paint colours, because the painter is now on site! A few days earlier than expected! We went past on the way home yesterday and there was 2 painters still going at it at 17:30.

Bit of shopping

Last Monday(Easter Monday) we decided to start having a look around for some of the items we will need. Fridge, TV, Lighting, Dining table, lounges and beds to name a few. Well, we purchased a dining table with chairs to seat 8, and ordered the light that will go over the dining table. We also let the girls choose their own light fitting for their rooms.

Dining table
Kels mum has given us a room to stor all of our gear until we move in to the new place. Above is the dining table sitting in her garage. Yesterday I pulled the legs off it so we could fit it into the house in our little storage room. Here it will stay for the next 8 weeks or so :)

Pendant light to be installed above dining table.

Unfortunately none of the items we wanted were in stock, so we have placed the orders and left a deposit. They should call sometime next week and we can go pick them up!

On another note, I went to see the tiler as we have not yet organised tiles for the Alfresco and Patio, to get a quote for laying tiles. Whilst there I took a couple of pics of the tiling.

Internal Tiling underway

The internal tiling started on the 16th April. There was a question from the tiler about how we wanted to finish the wall tiling in the ensuite so I dropped by today to let him know how we wanted it. Basically, and Im not sure Ill be able to explain it all that well, we have 'splayed walls' leading in to the ensuite which are not being tiled. The way the toilet door is situated, meant that on the 'flat' wall that is being tiled, would have a 1inch strip of tile around the leading edge of the door architrave. So after some discussion, Kel and I decided to finish the tiling at the edge of the architrave, and then paint the 1inch of flat wall... Argh very hard to explain, but I have it in my head. :) I have a picture, but it is not that great. Maybe Ill go back and take a pic later which might better explain - or wait until the tiling is complete.

The stairs from the garage in to the house have also been completed. Cheap and Nasty but they will do for the time being. My brother Craig has offered his services as a bricklayer to do some landscaping, so I might see if we can fit in some concrete/brick stairs at some point in the future!

Here are some images of the tiling underway.

Driveway poured!

Got a surprise today. Was just going past and noticed some trucks, so pulled in and they had started the formwork for the driveway. I asked the guy when it was being poured and he said 'in about 5 minutes'. I decided to hang around and take some pics while it was being poured. It only took about an hour!

I will go back a little later to see the finished product.

Almost done...

And, the 'almost' finished product. Once the concrete dries - in about a week or two, the driveway will be sprayed in 'gun metal'

Pre Tiling inspection

Well, it has been a long time between posts! As most of the work is now indoors, we do not have the photo opportunity we did previously.

Everything is coming along well at the moment. The internal fittings are almost complete. That is, the kitchen, closets and benches. The tiler is scheduled to start this week and will finish the Monday after Anzac day. That would be the 28th April.

I have to warn, this post will be quite 'picture intensive'. The girls came with me today, so for the first time they got to see the inside of their new house. Unfortunately Kelly had to work so missed out. I think we might have made up for it a little though, as between the girls and I, we took around 130 pictures. A lot of the ones I took with my phone seem a bit grainy today, but I let bella lose with the camera and she took 103 of the pictures! I am only posting a handful here, but my list contains 32 so far :)

So, without further ado, here are the images!
