Change of colour for the shutters

We received a call from our colour consultant on Thursday to advise that they have changed providers for the window shutters we ordered. The new business does not do the same colour as what we ordered. The image below depicts the old and new. The old colour is N28 Graphite and the closest match with the new provider is 'Black Walnut'. To be honest, we prefer the new colour better, as it matches the windows more closely.

In addition, the same is true for the roller blinds.. different company. Although in this instance, the colours are s close I cannot see much of a difference. We have roller blinds for the stacker door in the living room and also in our main bedroom.

After having a look around today, looks like the gas meter has been installed.

Gas meter installed on the side

Unfortunately no access to the inside to see how the the gyprock is going yet, but I could see the cornices have not yet been installed, as they are still sitting in the garage.

Gyproc started

So now, we are at the point the internals are starting. This means not a great deal of opportunity for pictures. Things will appear to be slowing down now.. Hopefully I can catch a trade or two on site at some point and go in for a little look around. The only pic I could get today was of the garage

Eaves completed

Eaves have been completed. Also, the laundry door in fitted. Bit disappointed actually, we opted to paint it the same colour as the fascia. Looking at it now, I think it(and the front door actually) would look great stained. You know, we were not even offered staining for the doors during our colour appointment.

I was out at the block taking some more pics earlier today and the Site Supervisor turned up. He asked if I would ike to go inside and have a look around as some things had changed since our site visit on Tuesday. First thing, the cooker isolation switch has been relocated as per plan *phew*

The gyprock was meant to be delivered yesterday and install started today, but as it was not delivered, it could not be started today. Luckily it was delivered today so gyprock should be started next week.

Also, the air conditioning 'rough in' has been completed. Here is a few pics from today's visit.

Cooker switch - probably wont make sense to anyone else :)

If you look closely at the rear left of the garage in the pic below, you can see the conduit for NBN. For friends of ours in the UK, the NBN is the governments 'National Broadband Network'. Fibre to The Home. As Kelly works in complaints( and myself in IT.. we have an interest in this stuff) and deals solely with NBN related complaints, we have an insight into the issues customers have to deal with. One of them is the builders lack of conduit to run the cable from the street to the point in the house where you want the equipment installed. I can honestly say, McDonald Jones seem to be doing the right thing here. There is one outstanding issue, in that I believe the conduit is leading to the boundary, but the pit for the connection is on the opposite side of the block. We will cross that road when we get there :)

Probably need to see the HiRes image to see the conduit in the rear left corner of the garage :)

Front door installed

Not a lot to look at on the outside today. They started off the eaves which is getting close to the last of the outside work.

I noticed they put the front door on, so that is the only pic I have today.

Front door - excuse the rubbish
Not sure how much more we will see now, as the work will move to the inside. Might be able to get some pics of the gyproc through the garage.. we will see :)

Bricks cleaned!

Bricks were cleaned today and boy doesn't it make a difference! So much nicer now.

Earlier today we had our first inspection. everything was in good order except for the dreaded cooker isolation switch. I asked for it to be moved away from the splashback but the wiring has been run to the splashback and the power point backing installed. I pointed this out to our SS and he said he would take care of it.

I took the photos earlier in the day, but this afternoon we noticed a TV antenna has also been installed!

We have a roof!

It really is starting to look like a house now. Roof is on and it is looking good!

In the beginning, we were sooo looking forward to the portaloo... a significant step in the build! but now, I want rid of it.. It is in all of the front pics! :)

Can't wait to see once the bricks are cleaned now!

Preparations for roofing

The scaffolding around the roof was installed today so, hoping they are able to install the roof on schedule tomorrow!

I also went back to have a look at the locations of the downpipe outlets in the gutter, as the images from yesterday looked like they were right over the windows. Happy to say, it was just camera angle. All downpipe outlets are as per plan :)

Gutters and Fascia

As was planned, the gutter and fascia was installed today. The brickies however left the site Saturday and took their gear. Seems they ran out of bricks.. again. This is the third extra pallet that has been delivered. Site Supervisor says they should be back on Saturday to finish off the brick work.

Also noticed the materials for the roofing have been delivered. The roof is booked to be installed Friday. Weather looking OK, although some storms and rain forecast for our area over the next couple of days.

Bricks Day 13(9)

Really didn't expect anything today, but the brickies were on site again. They have finished the back side area and the column in the alfresco.

Looks to me like the only brickwork left now, is the front porch area.

While I was out the front, I noticed a lot of wiring terminating at the meter box. It also looks like there has been an electrician on site for the electrical rough in.

Bricks Day 12(8)

Looks like they ran out of bricks! Another 2 pallets were delivered today. They also finished off the top of the garage and around the windows.

Had a closer look and they have delivered the gutters and fascia! The site supervisor(SS) called me with an update and said that brick work would be complete by Tuesday, with fascia and gutter to be installed on Wednesday. Then on Thursday or Friday the roofing would be started. Can only hope for good weather!

Have a meeting on site with the SS on the 18th for an inspection before the gyprock goes in.
