Finally some turf!

Well, only the nature strip but it makes a huge difference.

The front steps are now completed also.

I was only going to do the soil today but decided to leave early for the turf farm and pick up some buffalo to complete the job. Am happy with the results! Also got enough to fill in between our boundary and the neighbours driveway,

Initially I thought I would use 2.25 cubic metres of soil but decided to order 4, and use the rest up the top.. It doesn't go very far! I used all 4 metres on the nature strip.

Had to do some fancy 'grading' to ensure the wall height was below 900mm to satisfy council.. so there is a bit oif a dip into the NBN comms pit.

4 Cubic metres of soil delivered

  2. Thanks Nat! It does look much better with some green, and now I can do away with those pesky sediment control fences! At the moment I have a guy out the back excavating the rear yard... not doing a full job, just getting rid of the most we can without council approval, as the house behind is about to commence building, and I need the dirt gone before that happens - or suffer the extra costs of having no access! :)

Your house is looking good! I see you have submitted for your retaining walls? What kind of retaining walls did you go with?

So, like us and Jasper and a few others, in their shiny new houses, is xmas at your place this year? :)

  3. Ah yes, just saw the pics of the excavator, good thinking before you have no access! We did the same and so glad we did. Question, how did you get your retaining blocks to the back of your house? Unfortunately Amber will only drop them on our front yard so poor hubby has to wheelbarrow 460 blocks around to the back of the house :( luckily his mate and Dad will be helping him out :) they arrive next week and we have gone for the same blocks as yours. They won't be laid til council approval comes thru though, prob won't be til early next year!

Haha yes! Xmas at our shiny new house this year! How did you guess :)
